Credit repair for buying a home

Get your credit ready before a lender pulls it for your mortgage.

Credit repair for buying a home works best before you apply for a mortgage, not after a denial. A mortgage lender pulls all three credit bureaus, so Daisy reviews all three reports with you, challenges items that are inaccurate, incomplete or unverifiable, and helps you decide when your file is ready for a pre-approval.

While the repair is in progress, you hold off on all new credit. Once the work is done, you apply. Results vary with every report, and the first call is free.

Who this is for

  • You want to buy a home in El Paso or anywhere in the US, and no lender has pulled your credit yet.
  • A lender already said no, or offered terms you could not accept, and you want to know what on your report drove that answer.
  • You rent now and want a realistic timeline before you start looking at houses.
  • You and a partner plan to apply together and want both files reviewed before either one is pulled.

How Daisy works on a home-buying file

  1. We read all three reports together

Mortgage lenders look at Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, and the three files rarely match. On your free call, Daisy goes through each one with you line by line.

  2. Daisy challenges what is inaccurate

Collections, late payments and other items that are reported wrong, incomplete or cannot be verified get disputed with each bureau that shows them. Accurate items are not disputed, because accuracy is the standard the law sets.

  3. You keep the file quiet

No new cards, car loans, store financing or buy now, pay later plans while the work is in progress. New accounts and hard inquiries can work against the progress you are making.

  4. You apply when the file is ready

When the disputes have settled and your reports show the corrections, you talk to a lender about pre-approval. Mortgage pulls from several lenders inside a short window usually count as one inquiry, so you can still compare offers.

What a mortgage lender actually sees

A mortgage file is reviewed differently from a credit card application. Lenders pull a merged report from all three bureaus, and on many loans the middle of your three scores is the one that counts. One weak bureau file can hold back the whole application, which is why Daisy reviews all three instead of the one your banking app shows.

FHA, VA and conventional loans each set their own rules, and any lender can set a higher bar than the program does. The score is only part of the picture. Recent late payments, open collections and the balances on your cards all show up for the underwriter.

Questions

What people ask about this.

How long before applying for a mortgage should I start credit repair?

Starting credit repair 60 to 120 days or more before you apply for a mortgage gives disputes time to settle on your reports, and heavier files can need longer. Most clients see initial movement within 30 to 45 days after the first disputes are filed. Daisy gives you a timeline for your own report on the free call.

Can I apply for a mortgage while my credit repair is in progress?

You should not apply for a mortgage or any other new credit while your credit repair is in progress. A new application adds a hard inquiry, and a new account changes the file Daisy is working on. Get the repair done first, then apply for pre-approval.

Will shopping several mortgage lenders hurt my credit?

Shopping several mortgage lenders usually does not count as several separate inquiries, as long as the pulls happen inside a short window. Most scoring models treat mortgage inquiries within roughly 14 to 45 days as one. Credit card and personal loan applications do not get that treatment, so keep those off your file.

Can credit repair remove a late payment before my mortgage application?

Credit repair can remove a late payment only when it is reported inaccurately, incompletely or cannot be verified. An accurate late payment stays until it ages off, at about seven years. Daisy checks the dates, amounts and status of every late payment across all three reports, because errors there are common.

Do you help me get the mortgage itself?

Reliable Credit Solutions is a credit repair company, not a mortgage lender. Daisy prepares your credit file, and the loan itself comes from the lender or loan officer you choose.

Do you help home buyers outside El Paso?

Daisy helps home buyers nationwide from her office in El Paso, Texas. The work happens by phone, video and email, in English or Spanish, so where you are buying does not change the process.
